Dawid Malan was under scrutiny and was anticipated to be dismissed from the ODI World Cup squad after underwhelming in The Hundred and the T20I series against New Zealand, especially with Harry Brook garnering attention for his amazing exploits over the summer. Malan, though, quickly recovered and scored 54, 96, and 127 runs in the series against New Zealand, respectively.
Because of it, the 36-year-old was able to keep his position while Brook replaced Jason Roy. Dawid Malan said it is immensely fulfilling for him to silence the naysayers by performing well and making the World Cup squad while discussing the entire path. The explosive batter added that he was certain of recovering and eventually succeeded in doing so.
“Given the way everyone was acting, I might not have gone. I knew deep down that I was sure. People pushing other people based on a few Hundred games and a few T20 games and judging me on a few [The] Hundred games was quite cruel. I was able to deliver some game-winning efforts when the time was right. To be able to intimidate those who intended for me to be excluded… To do that is really fulfilling, Malan told the BBC in an interview.

Malan said that the naysayers always criticize him and ask the board to remove him from the team anytime his performance suffers. He further said that while he occasionally finds the same frustrating, he has learnt to deal with it and now uses it as motivation to engage in conflict and complete the task at hand.
“I feel like I should be dropped again is always one or two bad innings away,” the player said. It can be frustrating at times. Most of the time, I’ve been able to handle that and disprove critics. That is what fuels me, gets me into the battle, and helps me persevere, he continued.
