David Warner will miss India's five-match Twenty20 International series.

The five-match T20I series between Australia and India will not be played, according to veteran batsman David Warner. During the just-finished ODI World Cup, the southpaw was outstanding for Australia, amassing 535 runs in 11 games. Due to job commitments, several of the senior cricket players from both teams would miss the T20I series, which is scheduled to start just four days after the massive competition in India.

David Warner will be coming back to Australia after a tough World Cup, according to Cricket Australia.

He becomes the latest addition to a group that includes Mitchell Marsh, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and captain Pat Cummins.

An official statement from Cricket Australia stated, “Selectors decided Warner would return home on the back of a successful yet demanding World Cup campaign.”

Aaron Hardie has taken Warner’s place on the squad. The 24-year-old hasn’t been successful enough since making his debut for his country during the series against South Africa earlier in the year. He does, however, have a fantastic record in the Big Bash League, which should inspire confidence in him to perform well.

Conversely, Kane Richardson took Spencer Johnson’s position as he healed from a hamstring injury. In 35 Twenty20 international matches, Richardson has played for Australia and taken 44 wickets.

Andrew McDonald, the head coach, will also miss the T20I series with India. Following a successful World Cup campaign, the 42-year-old will take a sabbatical while Andre Borovec will serve as the series’ stand-in coach. In lieu of skipper Pat Cummins, Travis Head has been named the new skipper.

While Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, Adam Zampa, Steven Smith, Josh Inglis, Sean Abbott, and Marcus Stoinis are all part of Australia’s World Cup campaign roster, they have chosen to participate in the Twenty20 International series instead. However, considering that the cricket players hardly had any downtime in between demanding tournaments, none of them are expected to play in all five games.

Australia T20I squad: Matthew Wade (c), Aaron Hardie, Jason Behrendorff, Sean Abbott, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa.
