In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024), David Warner, the opener for the Delhi Capitals (DC), is continuing his incredible form. On Sunday, March 31, in Visakhapatnam, he scored a stunning half century against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Alongside Prithvi Shaw, Warner opened the innings and quickly put his team ahead with 93 runs for the first wicket off 57 balls.
The southpaw hit five fours and three sixes on his way to scoring 52 off 35 balls after reaching his half-century off just 32 balls. In the third over of the inning, he broke the shackles with a stroke that was quite impressive, considering that he had only scored five runs off the first six balls. Deepak Chahar threw the third ball of the over, and the southpaw got down on his knees to hammer him over the deep square leg for an incredible six.

Prithvi Shaw, who played the opening game of the season, provided Warner with excellent support throughout the innings. Shaw amassed a fantastic 43 (27) with two sixes and four fours. Notably, Mitchell Marsh started the first two games of the season for DC with Warner, but he was unable to turn his starts into significant scoring opportunities.

Shaw eventually took over for Ricky Bhui, who started as the opener but failed to make an impression in the first two games of the season, moving Marsh down to third. Shaw and Warner put up a solid opening partnership, but CSK pulled off a spectacular recovery, taking three wickets in five overs to leave Delhi trailing at 134/5 after 15 overs.

Captain Rishabh Pant saved their innings with a vital half-century (51 off 32), his first since going back into professional cricket. DC therefore concluded their innings at 191/5 with the stipulated 20 overs.
