David Warner should start for Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 opening, according to Mitchell Marsh.

Notably, eight members of the 2023 World Cup team also competed in the 2019 competition, demonstrating the team’s reliance on seasoned competitors. Mitchell Marsh has received praise as a potential opener since Aaron Finch announced his retirement, but he is aware that David Warner and Travis Head will be challenging him.

Cricket fans in Australia are holding their breath ahead of the eagerly awaited ODI World Cup in India as key players struggle with their fitness. The provisional 15-man roster includes the captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Starc; however, their participation in the competition is uncertain due to their ailments. Smith has a wrist tendon problem, whilst Cummins has a shattered wrist.

In addition, Maxwell has ankle issues, while Starc, the elite pacer, is healing from a groin ailment. These illnesses prevented them from participating in the ODI series in South Africa, which has raised some concerns for the Australian team just a few weeks before the start of the ODI World Cup. While Aaron Hardie, Tanveer Sangha, and Nathan Ellis have had opportunities because of their absence, the selectors have chosen to continue with the senior group of seasoned players.

Given that David Warner is one of the all-time greats in one-day cricket, Marsh anticipates batting in the middle order.

We have Travis Head and Australia’s best-ever all-three-format player there, so I dare say I definitely won’t be opening the batting, Marsh told AAP. “I expect to bat middle order.”

The most worrying situation still involves Glenn Maxwell, who is dealing with leg and ankle problems brought on by a prior injury. Maxwell is determined to better manage his planning in the future to prevent setbacks.

The selection committee, led by George Bailey, is still positive about the injured players’ ability to play again and has highlighted the possibility of include them in the series against India. There are still eight one-day matches to be played in South Africa and India before the final team is expected to be announced. Pat Cummins,Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Glenn Maxwell are on schedule with their return to play programs. Following them are two World Cup exhibition matches, providing ample of opportunities to continue the tournament buildup, according to Bailey.

Australian fans will be watching updates on the fitness of Cummins, Smith, Maxwell, and Starc with bated breath as the World Cup approaches, hoping that their top talents can recover in time to represent their country on the prestigious platform in India.
