David Warner says goodbye to MCG and gives a young fan in the stands gloves during Australia vs. Pakistan.
After a remarkable career playing Test cricket, veteran Australian opener David Warner said goodbye to the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Following the three-game series against Pakistan, David Warner has declared his retirement from Test cricket.

With so many runs in his illustrious career, the 37-year-old has surely had a significant influence on Australian cricket. In the second inning of the second Test, Warner scored six runs in sixteen deliveries. He then said goodbye to the spectators at the storied stadium and even gave one of his gloves to a small admirer.

The crowd stood in honor of the great hitter as he departed, showing their appreciation. Warner will be eager to make an impression in his farewell Test match and take the fans down memory lane, as there is only one Test match remaining in the series.

Cricket.com.au shared the Warner farewell to the MCG video on their X handle (previously known as Twitter). “David Warner bids farewell to the MCG for one last time, #AUSvPAK, at the ground where he scored 912 Test runs and made his T20I debut all those years,” the post’s description read.

Australia is trying to win the Test series.

In the current Test series against Pakistan, Australia is still very much in control. With a strong showing in the first Test, the Pat Cummins-led team scored 360 runs to win the match and are now favorites to win both the second Test and the series.

Australia had amassed 187 runs in the second innings by the close of Day 3 of the second Test, but they had also lost six wickets. Steve Smith was removed at the close of the day at 50 runs, and with Day 4 fast approaching, the hosts led Pakistan by 241 runs. In order to give the visitors something to chase, they will be hoping to score a lot more runs.
