Leading Australian batsman David Warner announced his retirement from Test cricket following the conclusion of the three-match series against Pakistan. As one of the all-time best Test openers, the southpaw played for Australia in 112 Test matches, with an average of 44.59 and 26 centuries. In his farewell appearance, he scored 57 and left a standing ovation from the Sydney audience.
Many people thought he was the perfect white-ball cricketer, so when he initially made an impact, there were many questions about his ability in the longest format. Nevertheless, Warner triumphed against all the obstacles and won matches in red-ball cricket, impressing even the great Sachin Tendulkar. The former cricket player praised Warner for his remarkable career as well as his growth and change in the sport.
“@davidwarner31’s journey exemplifies adaptability and grit—he went from being an explosive T20 batter to becoming a resilient Test player.” His development and transition in the game have been astounding, as he has mastered the art of pacing an inning and displayed aggressive purpose.
David Warner, congrats on an amazing career with Tests! Warmest regards to you and your loved ones, Tendulkar tweeted.

I knew you’d be the best at Test cricket. Virender Sehwag
When they were teammates with the Delhi Daredevils (now the Delhi Capitals), David Warner and Virender Sehwag shared a dressing room. During a conversation, Sehwag expressed his confidence that Warner, who was born in Sydney, would thrive in Test cricket and encouraged the Indian opener to give the longest format a go. The 45-year-old thanked Warner during his last game and offered him his best wishes for the future.
“Congratulations on a fantastic test career, @davidwarner31. I knew when I first saw you that this is the format in which you will flourish the best, and what a journey it has been. Extremely entertaining on the field, and maybe even more so in T20 cricket and highlights now. “Best wishes for the upcoming phase,” tweeted Sehwag.
