David Miller expresses his desire to captain South Africa in Twenty20 internationals, saying, "The fact that I am not captain, I am most definitely not bitter."

South Africa and the West Indies’ recent ODI series has been an emotional roller coaster thus far. The second game saw the visitors defeat the Proteas decisively after the first game was postponed due to weather. Temba Bavuma, the team’s captain, battled back with a tenacious knock that saw him score 144 runs throughout the run chase. Yet ultimately, it wasn’t enough to secure a victory.

During the third and final ODI of the series, it was revealed that Bavuma would miss the game due to hamstring soreness. Aiden Markram was then named the series’ skipper for the last game.  Following the choice, many suggested that David Miller, a middle-order hitter for the Proteas, might replace Markram as captain. The 33-year-old recently spoke up to offer his opinion on the captaincy position as well.

“I’d be lying if I claimed I wasn’t curious; I’ve loved my time traveling with the Proteas and learning from my experiences. Despite the fact that I am not a captain, I have no ill will or animosity against anyone. I want to put in my best effort for the group and assist Aiden in his position “At a press conference held before the third ODI, David Miller said

David Miller also discussed Markram’s decision to captain South Africa for the third one-day international. He expressed his opinion that Markram has what it takes to be the Proteas’ captain and noted that he is willing to do whatever the team needs of him to do.

“His (Aiden Markram’s) leadership skills are outstanding, and he exudes maturity and serenity. And that simply circulates throughout the changing area “David Miller remarked.

“It’s a fantastic choice, and now that Rob is the new coach, they will make a fantastic team. I’m available to help the boys however they need me to, “Said he.
