Their head coach, Daren Sammy, has also conveyed his appreciation and admiration for Gautam Gambhir, the Indian and BCCI counterparts. The West Indies faced harsh criticism after their poor defeat by India in the recently finished two-match series. While the visitors had just brief periods of positive game-play, the Indians easily won both games.
Daren Sammy expressed gratitude to the Indian cricket board for hosting the West Indies team for the two matches in Ahmedabad and New Delhi. At the conclusion of the second Test, Gambhir was spotted giving the Caribbean players some advice, and he also brought up the lessons learnt from the series defeat.
Daren Sammy pledged that Cricket West Indies would like to become a better Test-playing country.
“I want to express my gratitude to BCCI for hosting us and for being a wonderful host as we depart India. This tour taught my staff and players a lot of things that we can use on and off the pitch. A special thank you to Gautam Gambhir for spending some time speaking to my team after the test match. CWI will keep looking for methods to help us become a better test-playing nation despite all of our various obstacles. Sammy posted on his official X handle (previously Twitter): “Until next year, next stop Bangladesh.”
In the current World Test Championship cycle 2025–27, it is noteworthy that the West Indies have not yet won a single game. After suffering a home clean sweep at the hands of Australia, they lost five straight games on the India tour. The two teams will face each other in three games, with the 2021 champions New Zealand serving as their next opponent.
As for the West Indies’ international schedule, they will be going to Bangladesh for a multi-format series that will include three One-Day Internationals in Mirpur and as many Twenty20 Internationals, all of which will be contested in Chattogram. On October 18, the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, which recently saw renovations and infrastructural improvements, will host the maiden ODI.
