Daniel Vettori, the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), acknowledged that his club has not performed well as a whole in the current Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). To remain in the running for a postseason berth, the 2016 champions need to win all five of their remaining games.
In the nine IPL 2025 games they have played thus far, SRH has only managed to win three and lost six. Following their most recent victory over the Chennai Super Kings, the management decided to send the entire team on a little getaway to the Maldives. They will play the Gujarat Titans on Friday, May 2, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium in what should be an exciting match.
The teams that are currently winning have been reliable in all three areas of the game: batting, bowling, and fielding, Vettori noted in a sad tone.
“I don’t believe we’ve assembled whole shows. We have likely failed in at least one aspect of every game. During the pregame press conference prior to the game against the Titans, Daniel Vettori stated, “You look at the good teams that are winning right now – they’ve been consistent across the board.”
Despite SRH’s difficulties, Daniel Vettori commends young batter Aniket.
Although Daniel Vettori was unhappy with SRH’s overall performance, he did have some positive things to say about Aniket Verma, who is 23 years old. The right-handed hitter, who is making his IPL debut, has amassed 190 runs from nine games at an average of 27.14, including a high score of 74.
Individually, I’ve been extremely happy with Aniket because he’s been able to play a style that has really worked for the squad since joining the team and the IPL for the first time. He has proven to be one of our most important members,” Daniel Vettori continued.
Earlier in the season, Hyderabad and Gujarat faced off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. With seven wickets remaining, the team captained by Shubman Gill managed to chase down a target of 153 runs in 16.4 overs.
