The Dambulla Center of Excellence is opened by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe officially opened the renovated Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium on February 5, which is a significant milestone that demonstrates Sri Lanka’s commitment to the development of cricket. To improve Sri Lanka’s cricket scene, a Center of Excellence has been constructed, transforming the stadium into a cutting-edge venue.

According to news.lk, the recently opened Center of Excellence at the stadium represents a critical turning point in the “National Cricket Development Pathway” initiative. The goal of this program is to give young people opportunities to develop their abilities and advance their development. President Wickremesinghe, who has been a fervent supporter of Sri Lankan cricket and has demonstrated his commitment to the game’s future in the country, presided over the ceremony.

Notably, the facility also has a hydrotherapy section and a cutting-edge medical center devoted to the rehabilitation of sports injuries.

In addition, Wickremesinghe showed his support for athletes off the cricket field by launching a new international-caliber swimming pool and highlighting the value of total fitness.

In addition, he upgraded the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium to an international standard by inaugurating the newest LED lighting system. With this renovation, the stadium is positioned as one of Sri Lanka’s finest venues and optimal visibility is ensured during night matches, particularly T20s.

In the meantime, the occasion included a number of cultural activities honoring Sri Lanka’s rich past. Among the notable guests were Chief of Defense Staff General Shavendra Silva, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board Shammi Silva, Senior Advisor to the President on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff Sagala Ratnayaka, and Minister of Tourism, Lands, Sports, and Youth Affairs Harin Fernando.

Sri Lanka also introduced the National Super League for women on February 6. The purpose of the 50-over format is to identify prospects for the future because on February 15 a 20-over format will take its place. With 60 participants signed up for the challenge, four teams will be visible.
