Among the hitters Curtly Ambrose would most like to bowl against is Virat Kohli

Ace Indian batsman Virat Kohli was at the top of the list when legendary West Indies cricketer Curtly Ambrose was asked to name a player from the current age who he would want to bowl against. Ambrose was regarded as one of the era’s best bowlers. With 630 career wickets under his belt, Ambrose cemented his position as one of the industry’s finest.

When asked about playing against a player from the current generation, Ambrose mentioned former pacer Kohli, Australian batting mainstay Steve Smith, and England’s Joe Root as players he would love to challenge with the ball. Ambrose also caused trouble for several greats of the game during his time. “Virat, Smith, Root,” IndiaToday cited Ambrose as saying.

Notably, Smith, Root, and Kohli have developed into true international cricket mainstays. After surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record to become the batsman with the most ODI hundreds, Kohli has cemented his place in history. In addition, Root is only 3544 runs behind Tendulkar’s Test record, which he is closing in on.

Ambrose also discussed how the majority of today’s cricket players are batters. He emphasised how hitters have recently taken centre stage over bowlers, adding that when people are asked who their favourite player is, they almost invariably respond with a batter.

“Yes, there are moments when I feel like that. I’ve played cricket for a very long time. When you ask someone who their favourite cricket player is, they usually choose one of the batters.

They are people I admire and with whom I have played some fantastic matches. However, I will lean towards the bowlers because I used to be a quick bowler. “One of my favourite fast bowlers is Wasim Akram,” Ambrose remarked.
