Herschelle Gibbs, a former South Africa international, does not want skipper Aiden Markram to play in the remaining two Twenty20 International matches against India. Gibbs believes he should be benched and made the team’s 12th player after the 30-year-old has only scored eight and three runs in the series’ opening two games.

He originally said on November 13 that India should be sad that they lost the match in Gqeberha 2-0 and that the next two games, in Centurion and Johannesburg, might be very entertaining. In the final two games, he added, the series could go either way.
The 50-year-old Gibbs expressed his desire to see Markram out when responding to an X user’s question regarding South Africa’s ideal top six. In the last 26 games, the Proteas captain has notably failed to reach a half-century. But for leading the squad to the T20 World Cup final, he was incredibly appreciated.

Notably, Markram lost the second Twenty20 International to India’s Varun Chakravarthy, a spinner. Earlier, the player appeared very uneasy as the pacers harassed him. He was uneasy even against Arshdeep Singh in the Twenty20 International match, and Singh eventually got rid of him.

In the meantime, the visitors will be hoping to start the third Twenty20 International with a series advantage. The batting unit scored 124 runs in the first innings of the second game, but they fell short of their potential. Between them, the bowlers took six wickets, especially Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, who are spinners.
