Cricket Australia apologizes and clarifies the racist insult that was spoken during Pakistan's batting session.

A lot of uproar was generated on social media when the scoreboard in Pakistan’s current warm-up match versus Prime Minister XI read “P**I” rather than “PAK.” Many fans were incensed since the word “P**I” is derogatory and is used to disparage individuals of South Asian heritage. Cricket Australia (CA) was forced to subsequently clarify and issue an apology when Australian journalist Danny Saeed first brought attention to the error.

According to a statement from Cricket Australia, they had no influence over the automatic graphic.

They did, however, promptly apologize for the error and promise that it would not happen again because they had fixed it by hand.

“The image was a data provider’s automatic feed that wasn’t used for a Pakistani game before. According to the Australian journalist, CA stated in a statement, “This was obviously regrettable, and the error was corrected manually as soon as it came to light.”

A clarifier on this from CA: “The graphic was an automatic feed from a data provider which had not been used previously for a Pakistan game. This was obviously regrettable, and the error we corrected manually as soon as it came to light.” https://t.co/7FttR2iZTR

Pakistan scores 391 runs thanks to a double-century from Shan Masood.

In the warm-up match against the Prime Minister XI, newly chosen captain Shan Masood displayed exceptional skill in the game and amassed a double century. Based on his knock, the visiting team scored 391 runs, marking his third double century in first-class cricket. Sarfaraz Ahmed, Babar Azam, and Abdullah Shafique all provided strong support for his early knock. This inning will boost his confidence going into the three-match series against Australia.

Meanwhile, there’s still a lot of space for development right now. It’s concerning that, apart for Masood, none of the hitters were able to step up. Sarfaraz, Babar, and Shafique all had strong starts, but none of them could build on it. This is still somewhat worrying ahead of games against Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, among others. What is unexpected, though, is that Mohammad Wasim Jr., Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Hasan Ali haven’t been employed with the ball.
