According to legendary West Indies bowler Courtney Walsh, he has not had any requests for assistance from Cricket West Indies in recent years, but he is still more than happy to assist West Indies cricket in any way he can.
“I’m not calling that. Although I’ve never been asked, I’m always willing to assist with West Indies cricket. I would, however, be pleased to assist the authorities if they feel it is appropriate to do so. It is not required to be at the top level. I’ve stated that quite frankly. I adore cricket in the West Indies. On the fringes of Abu Dhabi T10 2025, he remarked, “I’d be too happy to assist if ever called upon.”
Courtney Walsh is now coaching the Royal Champs team at the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 after taking 519 wickets for the West Indies. Fast bowlers Daniel Sams, Chris Jordan, Isuru Udana, and Haider Razzaq of the United Arab Emirates are among the team’s formidable lineup.
Courtney Walsh stressed that in the game’s shorter formats, flexibility and the ability to make decisions under duress are now essential abilities.
“You need to be consistent and have a nice shift of pace. You need variety because you’re facing some of the top hitters and the wickets are excellent for batting. You’ll need a decent yorker and a good slow ball. You still need to perform no matter what you bowl, especially considering the elite calibre of batters in the current Abu Dhabi T10.
Regarding the benefits of ADT10 and similar platforms for younger players’ growth, Courtney Walsh continued
“It is crucial that they join the stars and more experienced players to play. These men have taken charge and performed admirably on their own. I’m happy to impart any knowledge I can to assist them improve their cricket, and I hope they learn a lot.
Even though the Royal Champs have lost their first two games in a row, they will be motivated to recover when they play the UAE Bulls on Friday night.
