Considering Virat Kohli ten key milestones as India's run machine gets closer to 35

A light who shines brightly in the ever-changing world of cricket is Virat Kohli, a force that defies gravity and a name that reverberates throughout the cricketing universe. News of an unexpected decline in this Indian cricketing great’s brand worth surfaced in March 2022. With his brand value falling from an astounding $238 million in 2020 to just $185.7 million in 2021, the figures spoke for themselves.

a story turn that appears unexpected, one could assume. Nevertheless, in spite of all the ups and downs, he never wavered in one area: his position as India’s most popular celebrity endorser for an astounding five years running. That proves the proverb that goes, “You can hate me or love me, but you can’t ignore me.”

Even though Virat Kohli is 35 years old now, if we go back to 2012, we will see a different Virat Kohli. A Delhi boy, who loved eating and was overweight, was staring at himself in the mirror as the Indian Premier League (IPL) approached. The master-in-training would become an avid fitness enthusiast after having an epiphany similar to the Buddha’s under the banyan tree. He underwent an incredible makeover, using his newly acquired wisdom to transform Indian cricket and establish agility and physical fitness as the team’s defining characteristics.

Because of his universal appeal, Kohli is regarded as a worldwide sports ambassador. Global football superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the only players with more Instagram followers than him. LA28 Olympics Sports Director Niccolo Campriani acknowledged that his fame and reach go much beyond the borders of India. An incredible accomplishment in and of itself is Kohli’s role as the driving factor supporting cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics.

This brings us to the topic of the “Virat Kohli” on-field accomplishments, which have left his mark on the cricket world

1. The batter from Delhi is very close to tying the record held by the great Sachin Tendulkar for the most One Day International (ODI) hundreds. A few years ago, this feat appeared practically unthinkable. Slightly less than a century away from becoming the Master Blaster.

2. In addition, with 78 overall centuries under his belt, he comes in second place globally, right after Sachin.

3. The 34-year-old also owns the record for the most centuries in a chase cause with an astounding 27. Memories of Virat Kohli’s incredible performance in Bangladesh at the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 abound. He proved himself to be a formidable opponent with a series of outstanding half-centuries.

4. He became the first player to earn “Man of the Tournament” honors consecutively in 2016, making his mark in the annals of T20 World Cup history.

5. He also has 4008 runs, which is the highest run total in T20Is.

6. The chase master also holds the record for the most fifty-score points in Twenty20 Internationals, having scored forty-eight. The run machine can score runs in any format with remarkable consistency, and the Indian Premier League (IPL) is no exception to this rule.

7. With a stunning exhibition of thunderous batting heroics in the 2016 Indian Premier League, he unlocked beast mode. He declared himself the top run-scorer, a record he still firmly maintains, with an incredible 973 runs in 16 games.

8. He also reached a new milestone when he scored an incredible seven hundreds in one IPL edition, the most ever.

9. During his tenure as India’s captain, Virat Kohli also broke numerous records. In addition to the antics with the white balls, his skill extends to the red ball court as well. Having scored two double hundreds, he became the first Indian captain to do so.

10. Kohli’s seven double hundreds for India in Test cricket have set a record and demonstrated his remarkable batting abilities. Five years into Test cricket, he scored his first double-century in 2016. He also holds the record for the most consecutive double-centuries in Test history, with four achieved in a row.
