Stephen Fleming, the head coach of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has made a daring claim about the team’s IPL 2025 return. With just two wins in eight games, the Yellow Army sits at the bottom of the standings. After defeating the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the opening match in Chennai, they have had a difficult season.
A subpar hitting order has been CSK’s biggest issue this season, as the squad is floundering in last place. The middle-order has not demonstrated much intent with the bat, and the various opening pairings have also failed. In several games, such as those against the Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals, the bowlers performed admirably, but it was insufficient to help them cross the finish line.
We will not squander any more time: Stephen Fleming
The Super Kings are drawing some inspiration from RCB’s achievement from the previous season, when they defeated the Men in Yellow in Bengaluru to qualify for the playoffs despite winning only one of their eight games. After a lacklustre tournament thus far, Fleming stated that the Super Kings will try to accomplish something similar.
Fleming stated, “RCB set a blueprint for that the year before, but we’re still hopeful of winning 6 out of 6, and some will giggle at that,” prior to CSK’s April 25 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk.
The team’s present mentality, according to the head coach, is to not squander any time because there is very little room for error. “The players are aware that there won’t be any missed opportunities or games in the upcoming weeks. And that opens doors and generates some internal competitiveness. We will not spend any more time,” Fleming continued.
