Each state association will appoint a strength and conditioning coach as well as a sports medicine team: Jay Shah

Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), stated that the board had taken measures to ensure that state units employ strength and conditioning trainers and form teams for sports science and sports medicine. Notably, the decision was made at the Special General Meeting (SGM) of the BCCI, which took place in Ahmedabad on May 27.

Jay Shah emphasized the significance of the initiative in addressing players’ injury concerns. Each state association will be in charge of hiring a strength and conditioning coach and creating a sports science and sports medicine team. A panel from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will evaluate applicants to assure the selection of qualified individuals, he added.

“In order to address athletes’ injury concerns, we have established a structure in which each state association will appoint a strength and conditioning coach and a sport science and sports medicine team.

The NCA commission will interview the candidates,” Jay Shah said.

We may have a new head coach for the women’s team before the Bangladesh series. The shortlist for the women’s team head coach has been finalized, and the CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee) will shortly make a decision, according to Shah Shah. A chief coach for the India women’s team could be chosen prior to their upcoming limited-overs tour of Bangladesh in July, which will consist of three ODIs and three T20Is.

“The list of candidates for head coach of the women’s team has already been compiled. The CAC will convene and make appropriate decisions. “We may have a new head coach for the women’s team before the Bangladesh series,” said Jay Shah.

Shah confirmed that the second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will take place prior to March 2024.
