Chris Woakes

Usman Khawaja, the star batsman for Australia, compared Michael Neser to Chris Woakes of England as the Queensland all-rounder persisted in pushing for a Test recall. In a recent Sheffield Shield encounter between Queensland and New South Wales at the brand-new Cricket Central pitch at Sydney Olympic Park, Neser stood out with a 140-run performance.

Khawaja compares Neser’s performance with the bat and the ball to that of Chris Woakes, who won the exciting Ashes series this summer’s player of the series award.

The Queensland skipper thinks that his teammate, who has already appeared in two Tests for his country, is comparable to England’s Ashes hero in terms of skills.

“Michael Neser has been outstanding for a very long time. The 36-year-old was reported by ESPNCricinfo as stating, “A lot of people recognize him for the terrific bowler that he is, but you see the allrounder he is – he bats No. 7 for us.

“He’s always been around the Australian cricket team group just for his bowling, but I think what he’s offering with his batting, you’ve got a guy who can win you a lot of cricket games,” said the commentator. It’s crucial that he has the “Woakesy” type of ability since it allows him to do both. Definitely, he is raising his hand, the speaker continued.

Jimmy is unmistakably promoting himself for test selection: Usman Khawaja

Jimmy Peirson, the wicketkeeper for Queensland, was also commended by Khawaja and said to be pushing for a Test selection. When his team was five wickets down and 179 runs behind in the second innings, he scored a critical 106 runs and partnered with Neser for 200 runs.

“Jimmy has consistently scored runs for us over the past three years. He is plainly trying to get picked for the test. He was a reserve for us at the Ashes, he’s been acting properly, he’s a fantastic keeper, and he’s a team leader, Khawaja said.
