Chris Gayle, a former cricket player for the West Indies, has selected his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) playing XI. He surprisingly omitted Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Mumbai Indians, who has won five league titles as captain and six as a player. Over Rohit, the Caribbean batter used Ravindra Jadeja, an all-rounder for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Gayle assembled a strong top-order that has performed admirably in the league, which includes himself, Virat Kohli, and Suresh Raina. His middle-order includes players like Dwayne Bravo, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and AB de Villiers. Each player has demonstrated that they can finish games for their clubs.
He left out Lasith Malinga but included Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as fast bowlers. For MI, Malinga was a deadly bowler who won some surprising games for his team by himself. Alongside Jadeja, he added Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and his countryman Sunil Narine as spinners.
“I need two fast bowlers in the end. But since I already have four players from outside, I can’t pick Malinga, therefore I have to choose Bumrah right now,” Gayle told InsideSport.
In relation to Gayle, he had an incredible IPL career. At an average of 39.72, the outstanding batter scored 4965 runs in 142 games. With a 175 off just 66 balls against Pune Warriors India in 2013, he also owns the league record for highest score. In addition, he is the record holder for the most sixes hit (357). Gayle represented PBKS, RCB, and KKR during her time in the IPL, which ran from 2009 to 2021.
