The greatest Indian cricket captain of all time, according to West Indies great Chris Gayle, is the renowned MS Dhoni. The southpaw is presently playing in the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2024 in India.
Two of the biggest names in cricket history, Gayle and Dhoni have won the admiration and respect of fans everywhere. Gayle lauded Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their roles as captains of India and hailed Dhoni as a trend-setter.
“For India, Dhoni has been the most successful captain. The man has truly set the standard, and Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also performed admirably overall,” Gayle was cited by TOI as adding.
In an incredible 200 One-Day Internationals, Dhoni captained India and won 110 of them matches. Under his direction, India suffered defeat in 74 One-Day Internationals and 16 games resulted in a draw. In three significant International Cricket Council (ICC) competitions, he led India to triumph: the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup. Dhoni’s reputation as a leader has also been enhanced by his five IPL championships as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings.

In addition, Gayle was asked to choose the most challenging bowler he has ever faced. Cleverly, the former captain of the West Indies countered that the ‘Universe Boss’ is not a tough enough bowler.
“Is the toughest bowler still alive or was he born? I’m not certain. Because every bowler strives and has an opportunity to pick a wicket, all bowlers are therefore challenging.”

Although it only takes one ball for a baller to reach this point, it’s still enjoyable to face some of the best fast bowlers and spinners in the world. “All bowlers are quite resilient, but the ‘Universe Boss’ is simply more resilient,” he continued.
