Chris Gayle jokes, "I'm coming out of retirement" after Virat Kohli surpasses his record for most IPL centuries.

Chris Gayle praised Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli after he scored his seventh Indian Premier League (IPL) century in their final league stage match against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, May 21 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Former RCB captain scored an immaculate 101 off 61 deliveries, including 13 fours and a six. Even though Kohli scored a century, RCB were eliminated from the IPL 2023 after suffering a six-wicket defeat.

After achieving his second century of the season, Kohli became the third player in IPL history to score consecutive hundreds. Earlier in the current season, Kohli scored a century against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). With his seventh hundred, the 34-year-old surpassed Gayle, who previously held the record with six.

After witnessing Virat Kohli’s innings, the former RCB captain exclaimed, “Never doubt Kohli!” The former West Indies legend added that Kohli has placed his team in a position to triumph. In addition, the “Universe Boss” stated that he was considering coming out of retirement after Kohli broke records.

“Never mistrust Virat Kohli. “Fantastic innings, well played; he has put his team in a winning position,” Chris Gayle said on Jio Cinema during the innings break.

Gayle went on to describe the RCB’s innings as phenomenal, attributing its success to Kohli. The 43-year-old then quipped that he was reentering the workforce.

“Virat and Faf batted exceptionally well, but the game belonged to Virat Kohli… Incredible innings by Virat; he has surpassed the universe’s leader. During the game, Gayle joked, “I am coming out of retirement, and I will see you next year, Virat.”

After being given the opportunity to bowl first, the RCB set the Hardik Pandya-led team a target of 198 runs. The GT chased down the target in 19.1 overs, with opener Shubman Gill scoring his second IPL century of the season. The teenager scored 104 points off 52 balls, including five boundaries and eight sixes.
