Following the historic ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which was held in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, the International Cricket Council (ICC) today revealed the astounding global broadcast audience figures.
The event has achieved 368 billion global viewing minutes, making it the most watched ICC Men’s Champions Trophy history. This is a 19% increase over the previous event, which was held in England and Wales in 2017.
Additionally, the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 attracted the most number of viewers ever for an ICC tournament, with 308 million minutes per over worldwide.
With 65.3 billion live viewing minutes worldwide, India’s victory over New Zealand on March 9 became the most viewed ICC Men’s Champions Trophy match ever, breaking the mark established during the 2017 final by 52.1%. India also won the coveted white jackets in a thrilling final in Dubai.
The match is the third most watched ICC match ever in India, only eclipsed by the India vs. New Zealand semi-final at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and the India vs. Australia final of the same competition.
The exciting finale also ranks third among the most watched ICC matches of all time worldwide by live watch time.
With coverage in 29 channels and nine languages, as well as the return of the award-winning Indian Sign Language feed and Audio Descriptive Commentary, the Champions Trophy became the most watched Champions Trophy in India’s history. This was made possible by a number of inclusive innovations that made sure all fans could enjoy the unparalleled drama of the tournament.
The vertical MaxView stream, created in partnership with the ICC, offered a user-friendly and captivating mobile viewing experience, and the event featured the largest percentage of watch time ascribed to digital sources of any ICC tournament ever held in India.
With a 65% increase in total viewing hours over 2017, the competition also became the most viewed Champions Trophy in Australia’s history. With improved coverage that included the addition of a Hindi-language feed, Amazon Prime Video saw the most viewers of any ICC event that was broadcast only on the service.
In other places, spectators in the USA recorded a 38% increase in watch time over the 2017 event, despite less favourable match schedules.
Even though the hosts were unable to win the Champions Trophy twice in a row, the number of hours watched during the 2025 tournament in Pakistan increased by 24% compared to the numbers from their trophy-winning campaign in 2017.
“We are thrilled to announce that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has achieved record-breaking global viewership, making it the most-watched edition of the tournament to date,” stated Jay Shah, ICC Chairman. These astounding figures demonstrate the game’s increasing popularity throughout the world and the quality of our collaborations.
“We are particularly appreciative of the JioStar network’s ongoing innovation and investment in India, which provided live coverage across 29 distinct broadcast feeds in nine languages. This endeavour was crucial in expanding the fan base and reaching new audiences,” he stated.
Seeing remarkable success in areas like Australia, where Amazon Prime Video experienced a 65% increase in viewing over the 2017 edition, and the US, where Willow TV achieved a substantial gain in audience figures despite difficult start times, is particularly encouraging. These achievements demonstrate the game’s growing popularity and the fervour of cricket fans around the globe, Shah said.
