"Raise their match fees." - Chaminda Vaas offers a potential approach to put the country versus franchise cricket controversy to rest.

Numerous cricketers have decided in recent years to forgo the central contract provided by their national cricket board and instead sign contracts with different teams throughout the world. Additionally, they have the flexibility to control their workload as necessary. It enables the cricketers to earn significantly more money than they would under a single contract.

Due to the fact that some Indian Premier League organisations have extended multi-year contracts to players from other nations, this has caused a dilemma. All of the cricketing boards need ways to prevent this from occurring because it could pose an issue for international cricket in the future. Chaminda Vaas, a former cricketer for Sri Lanka, thinks the issue will finally be resolved if all cricket boards raise the match payments.

“T20 cricket has been growing more commercialised, and the majority of the players will benefit financially and in terms of providing for them. It’s up to all the cricket boards to find a solution, such as raising their match payout. In an exclusive interview with News18, Vaas remarked, “I’m quite sure the boys will choose which format they have to play and attempt to sustain that if you can do that.

Chaminda Vaas discusses the LPL and how it has affected Sri Lankan cricket.

Chaminda Vaas thinks that the Lanka Premier League is providing much-needed exposure for local players, which will benefit them in the future. The calibre of the competition is also rising, he continued, so players would gain from it.

Well, (LPL) is progressively improving. Good players from outside are something we must have. It’s fantastic to have all the overseas players and you know, playing competitive cricket. People like Babar (Azam) and there are quite a few from Australia. They can teach many young Sri Lankans, and the country’s cricket will improve. There are numerous people competing in other leagues, but when it comes to Sri Lanka, they can learn a lot from the other players when they play with them, Vaas continued.
