At a glamorous opening ceremony on Saturday, August 17, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley formally announced the first-ever DPL T20 to be open.
Bollywood actress Sonam Bajwa and music sensation Badshah stole the show and had the audience glued to their seats during the lavish event. Top DDCA executives, franchise team owners, players, and staff from all participating men’s and women’s teams attended the opening event.
“We at the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) are extremely proud to officially launch the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League,” stated Rohan Jaitley, President of the DDCA, in his speech on the occasion. This is a historic time for the capital and for DDCA. The league will have a big impact on the future of cricket in the city and give Delhi’s youngsters an important stage on which to display their talent.”
It will also strengthen ties within the community. We wish all of the men’s and women’s players in the league the very best, and we anticipate a thrilling season,” he continued.
The DDCA also celebrated Delhi cricketers Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant for their efforts to India’s most recent ICC T20 World Cup victory, which was a particular highlight of the event. Pant, who will play in the league for Purani Dilli 6, was present to accept the accolade; on his behalf, Kohli’s brother graced the ceremony.
The league opener between Purani Dilli 6 and South Delhi Superstarz is scheduled, and it will be followed by the opening ceremony. In the opening game, cricket celebrities including Lalit Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Ayush Badoni, and Rishabh Pant will be competing.

Between August 17 and September 8, 2024, the Delhi Premier League T20 will take place. It will consist of 40 matches, 33 for the men’s division and 7 for the women’s, over the course of 23 days of nonstop cricket action.
