Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife Puja Pabari shared a touching Instagram message about his international retirement and how much she treasured his cricket career. On August 24, 2025, Cheteshwar Pujara announced his retirement from international cricket on his official social media accounts, shocking the cricketing community.
Puja, a prominent internet celebrity and author, was thrilled that his husband played the game fairly without compromising. She also appreciates that the ace cricketer always gave his all and played in a way that reflected his character as an athlete and a person.
‘Be in the present as the present is the present of the divine presence’—a Bhagavad Gita principle you’ve been following for a while, and I hope it guides you in this next phase! I am delighted you always gave it your best and played the game in your own calm and dignified way as you bid goodbye to your first love, passion, and the sport you love so much!

Following his final international game in June 2023, Cheteshwar Pujara was never given any consideration by the management.
She also acknowledged that after marrying the cricket player in 2013, she fell in love with the game and that they should both be able to relive the time they had lost together because of their respective careers.
“From having little knowledge of cricket to coming to love you and the game through your eyes, your journey has taught me many life lessons, and I am so thankful that we have shared in the highs and lows of your career! I shall miss supporting you on the field, adhering to the unbreakable routines, and occasionally perhaps even feeling nervous before a game or series. Let’s make up for all the missed festivities and changes made to give cricket priority right now,” she continued in the caption.
Cheteshwar Pujara represented India in 103 Test matches overall. He averaged 43.60 and scored 7195 runs in 176 innings. During his red-ball career, the defensively sound player amassed 19 hundreds and 35 fifties.
