Faf du Plessis, the captain of the Texas Super Kings, celebrated his 39th birthday in style on the same day that Major League Cricket (MLC) began play at Grand Prairie Stadium. after his team’s spectacular 69-run victory over the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the first game of the new franchise tournament for the USA.
Although Faf du Plessis was out for a golden duck, Texas Super Kings still managed to record a respectable total of 181/6, thanks to thunderous fifty-plus scores from Devon Conway (55) and David Miller (61). Mohammad Mohsin, a Pakistan-born leg-spinner, produced a spectacular performance in the response, going 4 for 8 and leaving the Knight Riders’ batting line in shambles. As Knight Riders were bowled out for just 112 runs in just 14 overs, Gerald Coetzee (2/22) and Rusty Theron (2/16) also made crucial contributions.

He was released by CSK in 2021–2022, and in an unexpected turn of events, du Plessis was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), CSK’s longtime opponent, at the IPL 2022 mega auction. He was then named as their captain. Earlier this year, Faf du Plessis led the Joburg Super Kings, a CSK-affiliated team, in the inaugural SA20 competition. He is currently in charge of yet another Chennai Super Kings-owned squad, this one competing in the scintillating Major League Cricket.
