How can the West Indies compete for the ODI World Cup in 2023?

The West Indies won the cricket World Cup in 1975 and 1979, but they are no longer as good as they used to be. The West Indies are at the bottom of the list in the ODI World Cup Qualifiers 2023, where they are playing right now.

Soon, the Super Six level of the Qualifiers will start, which could make it hard for the West Indies to finish in the top two and make it to the World Cup. Before the Qualifiers started, the West Indies and Sri Lanka were the favourites to win. But the teams are on the verge of being kicked out because they are in a tough race.

The West Indies have a very small chance of making it to the World Cup. They will go into the Super Six with no points, so their chances are very low. But it’s important to remember that there is still a chance. If you looked at their record, you might think they wouldn’t be able to get into the big event, but they still have a chance.

If they won their next three games, they would have the best chance of qualifying, but it would still rely on how the other teams did. The West Indies would need Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe to lose at least two of their three matches for them to qualify.

Also, if either of these teams or any of the others end with six points and the West Indies win all three of their games, they would have to stay ahead on net run rate.

On net run rate, the Windies are ahead of the Netherlands and Oman. This is because their loss to the Netherlands in the one-over knockout did not change their net run rate.

There is another way for the WI to get into the tournament that doesn’t involve the net run rate. That way would work if Zimbabwe lost all of its Super Six games and Sri Lanka lost its match against the West Indies but won its other two games. Scotland and the Netherlands each win one, and Oman wins two. If this happens, Sri Lanka will have eight points, the WI will have six points, and the other teams will each have four points.
