On Monday, October 14, Cricket Australia announced that Australian all-rounder Cameron Green would have surgery this week to treat a stress fracture of his lumbar spine.
After he complained of lower back pain during the recent UK tour, follow-up scans and a thorough evaluation showed the degree of the fracture.
Although pace bowlers frequently sustain spine stress fractures, Cam’s condition is thought to be exacerbated by a special abnormality in the area next to the fracture.
Cameron Green would benefit from the surgery to stabilize the defect and lower the chance of future recurrence, it was decided after extensive consultation.
Elite fast bowlers have had the procedure done successfully in the past.
It is estimated that recovery will take about six months. Cameron’s long-term career as an all-rounder is the reason behind the decision to move forward with surgery.
Australia announce squad for Pakistan series
The 15-man team for hosting Pakistan in an ODI series in November has also been confirmed by Cricket Australia. The team will be led by Pat Cummins, an exceptional pacer, while Josh Inglis will be the favored wicketkeeper. Glenn Maxwell, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Steve Smith are among the team’s more seasoned players. However, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh are not being considered because they are on paternity leave.

“The balance of the squad was focused on that and continuing to focus on preparing individuals for the upcoming Test Summer,” stated Australian Chair of Selectors George Bailey, adding that this is our final ODI series before the Champions Trophy.

The one-day team performed admirably in the UK, especially considering the difficulties with injuries and illness. In anticipation of Pakistan in February of next year, we see this as a chance to build on that accomplishment.
