Cameron Green

Cameron Green is the ideal David Warner replacement, according to former Australia captain Steve Waugh, should the latter decide to retire from Test cricket following the forthcoming three-match series against Pakistan. Notably, the search is still ongoing despite the fact that Marcus Harris, Cameron Bancroft, and Matthew Renshaw are still in the picture and were recently included in the Prime Minister XI, which engaged in a four-day practice match against Pakistan.

Waugh, though, maintains Green’s lead in the race and notes that the all-round player can bowl quickly and with good technique. He went on to say that Green is the ideal candidate to take Warner’s place and start with Usman Khawaja because he can replicate the success that Shane Watson had.

Since there aren’t many other possibilities, I would give Cameron Green a strong consideration to begin the batting.

His contributions to the squad are so great that I want him on it. He’s a wonderful fielder, bowlers for ten to fifteen good hours, and although I haven’t seen him bat like a pro yet, he has tremendous technique and plays fast bowling well. All of these things combine to give him great balance.

Additionally, he has batted at six thus far, and six is when you usually get the second new ball, so I would definitely be considering him because I want him on the squad and I just feel like it may be a bit of a Shane Watson sort of situation. That’s the only route I could go right now because Mitch Marsh has clearly nailed the area he was in, as Waugh was cited by FoxSports as saying.

Notably, Cameron Green is unlikely to play in the first match against Pakistan after losing his spot to Mitchell Marsh in the middle of the Ashes series. He participated in the practice match against Pakistan, but was dismissed after 46 runs; therefore, he was unable to have much of an influence. The 24-year-old’s bowling was subpar.
