Cameron Green, an Australian all-rounder, is the source of recent news. In an attempt to control his fatigue after being forced to bowl in all six of Australia’s games during their tour to the UK, Green was kept out of the second ODI and the third and final T20I in the just concluded series.
Leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who had reported episodes of back pain following Australia’s 46-run defeat by the DLS method in the third ODI of the series, replaced Green in the playing XI for the fourth ODI.
The heavy-hitting all-rounder is ready to get back to Australia as soon as possible to start his recovery process after scans showed he had a back problem.
According to cricket.com.au, an official for the Australian men’s squad revealed that the severity of the injury and a timetable for his comeback could not be revealed until the 25-year-old went back to Perth for more evaluation.
Making sure Green returns to peak physical form in time is Cricket Australia’s top responsibility, especially with the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy just a few months away. If a vital player such as Green is unable to play against India, it will be catastrophic for both the Australian team and for Green himself.
It’s interesting to note that Green, who earlier in the match scored a cool 42 runs at bat, was Australia’s top bowler in the third One-Day International on Tuesday, finishing with 2-45. Despite 14 straight victories during a 348-day span, his team lost their first ODI despite his heroic all-around performance.
Injuries have plagued Cameron Green throughout his professional career.
Green has previously suffered a significant injury.
Green suffered a finger injury in late 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when playing against the Proteas. After being bounced by Anrich Nortje, scans indicated a slight fracture, and as a result, he was ruled out of the third and final Test match to be played in Sydney.
In addition, Green suffers from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), a degenerative illness. It is a disease in which the kidneys sustain damage and eventually become less functioning.
