In the 11th Bangladesh Premier League, Fortune Barishal defeated Chittagong Kings by three wickets to win the league for the second time in a row. The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur was filled for the match, which was a thrilling contest.
After being put in to bat first, Chittagong Kings reached 57 runs in the first six overs without losing a wicket. Both Khawaja Nafay and Parvez Hossain Emon, the opening batsmen, appeared ready for much more when they reached 93 at the halfway point. In the thirteenth over of the match, Nafay was out.
Graham Clark was run out in the last over despite playing a brilliant knock (44 off 23). After playing all 20 overs, Emon finished with 78 off 49. Only one of the Kings’ bowlers, Muhammad Ali, finished with an economy rate below 8.50.
With the same number of runs scored on the powerplay, Barishal themselves got off to a strong start in the run-chase. Shoriful Islam‘s double-wicket over altered the course of the match, as captain Tamim Iqbal left the pitch for 54 pff 29 balls.
But thanks to his scorching innings, Kyle Mayers put his team within striking distance of winning. The game took a sharp turn when Shoriful bowled his penultimate over of the match, which included two scalps. With a pair of maximums at the conclusion of the innings, Rishad Hossain, who had only been given a few overs earlier in the match, came through for his team and sealed the victory for Barishal.
