Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia, has stated that despite rumours of tracks being turned in India prior to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, people shouldn’t underestimate the team’s fearsome pace bowling assault. The four-match Test series between Team India and Australia is due to begin on February 9 at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Stadium.
The Australian captain made a provocative statement before the much anticipated series, despite the fact that spinners and the twisting tracks that the Indian conditions offer have received a lot of attention. Given how ‘excellent’ his team has been in various situations, Pat Cummins said that people shouldn’t “forget” the devastating speed assault that his team enjoys.
“Obviously, it depends a lot on the environment, especially in the first Test. We shall determine once we are in Nagpur. But, as Pat Cummins said at a press conference after landing in India, “I think sometimes talking about a couple of spinners, you forget how excellent a lot of our fast bowlers have been in all conditions.
“When Starcy (Mitchell Starc) returns, we have many of possibilities here with finger spin, wrist spin, and left arm (pace). The good news is that (Ashton) Agar and (Mitchell) Swepson have some experience having played on our previous teams and on recent international tours. Todd Murphy participated in the previous tour. We believe Lyon received a lot of support in that area,” the Australian captain continued.

The 29-year-old went on to say that their red-ball contingent has a variety of choices, including middle-order batter Travis Head, who offers an off-spin option.
“Of course, we’ll choose the bowlers we believe will produce 20 wickets. However, we’re not completely certain of how we’ll divide that up yet. Travis Head is a great off-spin bowler as well. We must strike a balance. There is a wide range for us to choose from. So far, we haven’t committed to any bowling lineups,” said Pat Cummins.
It should be noted that the two bitter rivals are competing for a spot in the World Test Championship finals for the 2021–2023 cycle, so the series is essential.
