A family court in Bandra, Mumbai, has been ordered by the Bombay High Court to hold a final hearing on the divorce case that cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma filed on February 5, 2025.
The Bandra court will make a final decision on the plea by March 20. The pair, who took the marriage oath in 2020, have been living apart since June 2022.
The husband agreed to give Dhanashree a permanent alimony payment of INR 4.75 crore as part of the couple’s consent agreement for a consensual divorce. A request to waive the six-month statutory cooling-off period before a separation is ultimately imposed was filed with the same agreement. Chahal’s unpaid alimony, however, compelled the family court to dismiss the case; on Wednesday, the High Court bench led by Justice Madhav Jamdar overturned this decision and expedited the divorce decree.
Yuzvendra Chahal involvement in the forthcoming Indian Premier League 2025 has prompted the decision to expedite the case. In actuality, Chahal will play as a prime spinner for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian prime League. In an attempt to get ready for the top T20 league, he has already joined the team’s training camp after being purchased by them for INR 18 crore. It’s unclear if the leg-spinner will show up for the court hearing on Thursday because he is now with the squad.

The cricket player from Haryana has been absent from the Indian national team for a while. Yuzvendra Chahal will go to the UK for a county stint with Northamptonshire following the season’s conclusion. The cricket player had played for the team in the One-Day Cup last year, and he had a strong performance that included taking five wickets.
