Ben Stokes, the captain of England’s Test team, recently came forth and shared his plans for when he inevitably hangs up his cricket bat. Stokes, who is only 33 years old right now, is in the height of his abilities and has been a mainstay for England in the longest format for quite some time.
Notably, Stokes made his Test debut in 2013 and went on to win the T20 World Cup in 2022 as well as the ODI World Cup in 2019. He has also only lost one series since becoming the helm of England’s Test team in 2022.
He did, however, recently admit that he finds it impossible to picture himself giving up cricket when the time comes. The outstanding all-around player acknowledged his desire to become a coach.
“I don’t see myself as someone who will simply give up cricket when the time comes for me to quit playing. I can definitely see myself wanting to pursue a career in coaching. That might just be my passion for the game, I believe. After I finish playing, I hope to be able to help a few others advance in their professions,” Stokes stated to the Telegraph.

Stokes also discussed his participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy. The highly anticipated tournament is rumoured to take place in Pakistan in the early months of 2025. Stokes acknowledged that although he is excited to participate, he is unsure about his future in white-ball cricket.

“Isn’t it difficult to say no to those kinds of significant occasions? I’d be happy with how many games I’ve played and how far I’ve come even if I never played another white-ball game. I have no idea what their future plans are or if they regard me as a part of them. That will undoubtedly come up in conversation at some point. In any case, I’ll be content,” he remarked.
