In the third ODI of the current series against New Zealand, star English all-rounder Ben Stokes displayed his talent and made a brilliant comeback to ODI cricket by scoring a massive 182 runs in 124 deliveries. Stokes contributed to England’s outstanding score against New Zealand and their decisive 181-run victory.
The English all-rounder, who in 2023 was only interested in Test cricket, recently claimed that he had always known he will play in ODIs again and represent England at the upcoming World Cup. Both England and the all-rounder have previously expressed concern over Ben Stokes’ knee, which has substantially hampered his bowling ability. The star player asserted that it was always preferable to confuse the press.
Since I’ve undoubtedly received numerous inquiries on my knee over the years, I choose to leave it at that. Stokes was reported by ESPNcricinfo as saying, “I knew that I’d be playing in these games and possibly in the World Cup then when I said that, but it was just the easiest thing to say that and put you [the press] off the radar.

Ben Stokes also discussed his upcoming role for England as a specialist hitter. He claims that switching to a specialised position has given him the ability to focus for the first time.
“Over the past 18 months, I think every day has been about whether or not I will bowl. This is the first time that I’ve been certain in my mind that it’s the one thing I can focus on. I now realise that I can just concentrate on that—that is now my responsibility to the team. The clarity in my thinking helps with that, according to Stokes.
