Ben Stokes provides an update on his knee operation

Ben Stokes, the captain of England’s red-ball team, missed most of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a knee injury he sustained during the previous season. He joined the England camp for the 2023 Ashes after failing to recover for the Chennai Super Kings. In the ODI World Cup and against Australia, he had no issues, but the all-rounder was no longer able to ball. Ben Stokes had knee surgery following the conclusion of the massive event in India. He is now prepared to play a five-match Test series, but the cricket player needs to manage certain issues.

In an update on his fitness, Stokes said he is currently not even close to being able to bowl. The 32-year-old stated that while he is working on it, he could not even play well against India. Stokes went on to say that he might begin bowling in the English summer if all goes well and if his body feels fine.

As previously stated, bowling is such an unusual experience for the body that returning to it won’t be as simple as saying “I’m good now, let’s go back to bowling.” Recall that I bowled my last delivery at Lord’s in the Ashes. According to ESPNcricinfo, Stokes stated, “So my body is nowhere near ready to even be thinking about competitive bowling at the moment.”

“But hopefully by the summer, that’s where I’ve earmarked as playing a full role as I want to be doing,” he continued. “But if we can start building myself back up to bowling at this tour.”

Ben Stokes talks candidly about the Abu Dhabi training camp.

England established a training camp in Abu Dhabi prior to the India series, with the aim of improving their understanding of spin. Ben Stokes disclosed that in order to regain his fitness, he pushed himself during the camp and worked out for extended periods of time.

“It was a good idea to start pushing myself and pressing things a little after we were in Abu Dhabi. observing my reactions, my daily routine, my ability to endure lengthy, difficult sessions, and my performance across the course of three or four distinct activities,” Ben Stokes added.
