Later, renowned cricket author Bharat Sundaresan mentioned that awards were given out in the England camp to recognize the accomplishments of Moeen Ali and Stuart Broad, who are retiring from the sport. The players were unable to have a drink with their Australian counterparts because this took more time.
The two teams appear to have miscommunicated, but this shouldn’t detract from the fact that the Ashes was an exciting match between the two strongest red-ball teams in cricket at the time.

Stuart Broad had previously declared that he would be retiring after the fifth Test match at the Kennington Oval in London at the conclusion of Day 3. Moeen Ali, who returned from Test retirement to compete in the Ashes in 2023, was also anticipated to hang up his cleats once again.
In order to help England tie the series, the two men put on a performance on Day 5 of the fifth Test. On Day 5, with all of its wickets in tact, Australia needed 249 runs.
