Nasser Hussain mockingly urges India to "come on" as Ben Stokes approaches the landmark of becoming England's captain.

Ben Stokes, the England captain for Test cricket at the moment, is moving quickly up the success ladder and displacing prior captains in the process.

The dynamic all-around player defeated India on January 28 in Hyderabad, earning his 14th Test victory and breaking the previous record of the late Mike Atherton, who had 13 victories. Ex-captain of England Nasser Hussain was alerted to the news and responded with a humorous “Come on India!!!” to a social media post highlighting Stokes’s approaching challenge to his record of 17 Test victories.

Ben Stokes might potentially break Hussain’s record in the current five-match Test series against India.

England took a 1-0 lead after winning the first Test in Hyderabad by a margin of 28 runs. The possibility of Stokes surpassing Hussain’s record looms as the second Test in Vizag on February 2 approaches.

Ben Stokes has more important things to worry about than just trying to become one of England’s greatest captains; he has to worry about where his team is in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). Even though they have won three of the last six matches in the current WTC cycle, England is only one point ahead of Sri Lanka in eighth place on the points standings.

In last year’s Ashes series against Australia, the squad was penalized 19 points for a slow over-rate. In order to guarantee their place in the WTC Final, Stokes and his group must make the most of points in the remaining games and keep a strong overrate. After six Test matches, England’s chances of making it to the WTC Final are currently just 29.17% of possible points.

The series that is currently playing out against India is going to determine England’s fate in the ICC World Test Championship, as cricket fans closely monitor Stokes’ journey as captain. In the second test, which is scheduled to begin on February 2, they will play India at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
