PAK vs ENG 2024: Ben Stokes apologises for getting frustrated after poor fielding in 2nd test

During the second Test match against Pakistan in Multan, England captain Ben Stokes publicly apologized to his squad for his outbursts of impatience. The incident occurred when fielding errors and missed catches caused England to lose control of the game, ultimately resulting in a 152-run loss for the visitors.

Pakistan achieved a spectacular victory in the second Test of the three-game series, tying the series at one. Since it was the hosts’ first home Test victory since 2021, this triumph was very noteworthy. Following their defeat in the first Test, the Pakistan Cricket Board made significant roster changes, benching important players including Naseem Shah, Babar Azam, and Shaheen Afridi.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first was the first step in Pakistan’s impressive performance. Thanks to a century from Kamran Ghulam, who was making his debut, and important contributions from Saim Ayub and Mohammad Rizwan, they amassed a respectable 366 runs in their opening innings. Only Ben Duckett was able to score a century in England’s lackluster response.

We are all aware of Ben’s intense passion: Brendon McCullum,

The pivotal moment occurred in Pakistan’s second innings, when the hosts set a target of 296 runs thanks to a string of missed catches and fielding mistakes. Stokes’ annoyance was particularly noticeable during this phase, especially following two missed catches off the bowling of Brydon Carse and a misfield by Jack Leach. Stokes acknowledged his passionate outburst. Stokes had just made his comeback to the team following a nine-week absence due to a hamstring injury.

“Last night, I apologized to the folks up there. For the first time since I became captain, I allowed my feelings to be expressed through my body language as the game progressed. I’m really mad at myself for admitting that, and I own up to it. I don’t want to do it or be perceived as doing it.

Although no one has the ability to drop catches, the fact that they are so rare in these subcontinental conditions just serves to highlight how crucial catches are. I told the group that I was sorry and that it was a bad thing of me. Last night, I was an exhausted and irritable old man. “That won’t happen again,” Stokes said, according to.

Although taken aback by Stokes’ apologies, England’s head coach Brendon McCullum praised the captain’s dedication to the squad. Stokes’ will to bounce back from injuries and play well under trying circumstances was commended by McCullum.

We all know how fervent Ben is and how much playing for England means to him, so I was a little taken aback. McCullum told Sky Sports, “We’ve seen that through his bloody-mindedness to recover from the injury, which was significant, and to do so in a nine-week timeframe, and in circumstances as extreme as forty degrees.”
