Before the WTC final and the Ashes, Todd Murphy uses Ravichandran Ashwin's vocabulary.

Todd Murphy has had a great start to his test career. In his first match, he took 7/124 against India in Nagpur, which was the first of a four-match series. At an average of 25.21, the 22-year-old ended up taking 14 wickets over the course of the match. Because of how well he played, he will be part of the Australian team for the final of the World Test Championship and the Ashes in 2023.

The off-spinner wants to learn more tricks before the important trip to England. Ravichandran Ashwin, an Indian off-spinner, used the carrom ball to inspire him.

Todd Murphy is trying to add a similar style of delivery to his arsenal as he gets ready for the upcoming tour to India and England.

“I’m still working on it, but I’m still a long way from doing it as well as Ravi Ashwin. It’s easy and hard at the same time. It’s just a matter of being sure that you can do it. Cricket.com.au quoted Murphy as saying, “I’d love to be able to add that myself one day.”

Todd Murphy said that he watched videos of Ashwin bowling and would stop when he got to the point of delivery to learn the skill.

“If your throw goes the other way, it just gives the batsmen different problems to solve. “I was really interested in watching things like that and getting a close look at his hand and wrist position to see how each ball came out and if it was acting differently,” he said.

The WTC final will start on June 7.

Notably, Murphy is the second-best spin bowler on the Australian team, after Nathan Lyon, who has been playing for a long time. So, he probably won’t play at all on the tour, unless Lyon gets hurt.

The final of the World Test Championship will take place at the Oval in London on June 7, and the Ashes will start on June 16 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
