Watch: Beer snake distraction forces Marnus Labuschagne to pull out of shot, Mohammed Siraj throws ball in angst

During Australia’s first innings on Day 1 of the second Test match between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval, Mohammed Siraj became irritated when Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne left his stance just before the fifth ball of the 25th over. Siraj was irritated by this interruption and threw the ball in the direction of the stumps.

Labuschagne’s sudden retreat was brought on by movement close to the lens. A fan with many cups walked behind the bowler and briefly came into the batter’s line of sight. Labuschagne made the right decision to pull out because it was clear that he was distracted. But Siraj was already halfway through his run-up and didn’t see why the batter was reacting the way he did. His reaction was frustrated, and he threw the ball narrowly wide of the stumps in rage.

Australians get back on track with McSweeney-Marnus Labuschagne

In the meantime, Mitchell Starc was the main ball-wrecker as India was bowled out for 180 in just over 44 overs after choosing to bat first. By taking six wickets, the left-arm bowler destroyed the visitor’s top and lower orders. KL Rahul’s (37) and Nitish Kumar Reddy’s (42) contributions did help the team surpass the 150-run threshold.

Australia’s innings started off cautiously in response. Usman Khawaja, the opener, was dismissed for 13 by premier bowler Jasprit Bumrah, giving the hosts a 24/1 lead. But Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney kept the ship afloat, and by the end of 30 overs, Australia’s total was 77/1. In the game, the hosts are in a strong position with a 103-run deficit.
