The Champions Trophy is about to start, and the ICC event that will be held in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates is already generating a lot of controversy. The final teams have been revealed, and there is already a lot of discussion over the participating teams and the tournament locations.
The BCCI has been drafting a number of regulations in advance of the competition, and it appears that since the tournament will last for just over three weeks, Indian players’ spouses and family would not be allowed to participate. As per the recently implemented board rules, families are only permitted to spend a maximum of two weeks with the players during a 45-day or longer tour.
The players are not expected to be traveling with their spouses or partners at this time, although that might change if something changes.
According to a BCCI source cited by NDTV Sports, “one of the senior players had inquired about it and he was told that the policy decision will be followed.”
Families will not be joining the athletes on the tour because it lasts less than a month. However, I believe that person will be responsible for paying for all costs if an exemption is made, as BCCI will not be paying for any of them,” the insider continued.
