On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held its 28th Apex Council Meeting. During the meeting, the Indian board notably took a minute to offer its condolences for the sad Ahmedabad Air India jet disaster.
They also expressed sadness over the stampede event in Bengaluru. The board made the decision to establish a committee in the wake of the occurrence to provide recommendations and rules aimed at preventing similar incidents during cricket-related events in the future.

The Apex Council conveyed its deep sorrow over the terrible events that occurred in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad and resulted in the untimely deaths of innocent people.
Given the events that took place during Bengaluru’s victory celebrations, the Apex Council has made the decision to appoint a committee to develop thorough recommendations intended to stop similar incidents from happening in the future.

The guidelines will be developed by the committee in 15 days.
In order to supervise umpire growth and improve their on-field performance, the Apex Council has decided to established a Working Group with five (5) “Umpire Coaches.” In addition to having prior umpiring experience, these five “Umpire Coaches” must have international umpiring experience.
In addition, three (3) previous match referees have been chosen by the Apex Council to create a Working Group. Monitoring match referees’ progress and giving them chances to enhance their performance during cricket matches will fall within the purview of this Working Group.
The Apex Council has announced the locations for India’s forthcoming home white-ball series against New Zealand, which is set for early 2026.

Coverage and length of the season
The Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy will take place on April 3, 2026, to round up the domestic season of 2025–2026. The Duleep Trophy will take place on August 28, 2025. Ranji T
Important adjustments
There will now be six zonal teams competing in the Senior Women’s Challenger and Duleep Trophy tournaments, chosen by zonal selectors.
For all age groups, Plate Group rearrangement has been implemented. The Plate Group for restricted overs events will consist of the six teams that finished last in the previous season’s standings.
A single team will be promoted or demoted between the Elite and Plate groups coming forward, according to amended promotion/relegation criteria.
Changes to the tournament format
There will now be a Super League stage for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in place of the previous knockout format.
Novel grouping structures
The Men’s U23 State A Trophy, the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, and the Vijay Hazare Trophy will all use a four elite groups plus one plate group format.
A five elite plus one plate group system has been adopted for the majority of junior and women’s competitions (U16, U19, and U23).
