The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested that Rahul Dravid remain the head coach of the Indian cricket team, according to a recent update. The BCCI contacted him last week with an extension offer that omitted any mention of a deadline.
It’s unclear at this time whether Dravid has accepted the offer. The arrangements Dravid had put in place can be upset if a new head coach is hired.
The BCCI wants him to stay primarily so that the framework he built over the previous two years may continue.
Dravid’s first assignment in this expanded role, should he accept it, will be to captain the Indian team during their tour to South Africa. Two Tests in Centurion and Cape Town are the next stops on the tour after three T20Is and ODIs each.
Following Ravi Shastri’s departure as head coach in 2021, Dravid’s first two-year tenure came to a conclusion with India finishing second in the ODI World Cup. He will probably stick with the assistant coaches he began working with in 2021 if he does this. During his time there, the team’s fielding coach was T. Dilip, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

Rahul Dravid was sad not to win an ICC trophy but was proud of India’s dominance in all forms during the recent World Cup final. He said that his only concentration was on the World Cup campaign and that he did not have time to consider staying on as a coach.
“I haven’t given it any thought. I don’t have time to consider this or to think back on it,” Rahul Dravid had remarked. “When I have the time, I will do it. But I was totally focused on this campaign at this particular moment. All of my thoughts were on this World Cup, and nothing else. Furthermore, I haven’t given the future any more thought.”
