On September 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India defeated Pakistan by a thrilling five wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 summit match. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) then announced an INR 21 crore award for the Indian squad and support staff.
The announcement brings the total prize money given out by the Indian board in the three successful multi-team championships to an incredible INR 204 crore. Following India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which they secured by defeating South Africa in a nerve-wracking final in Barbados under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the BCCI announced a substantial award of INR 125 crore.
India defeated its fierce rivals, New Zealand, in Dubai earlier this year to win the 2025 Champions Trophy, adding another trophy to their expanding collection.
The winning team and support staff will receive INR 58 crore as a reward from the BCCI after that victory.
Speaking about the Asia Cup, India’s recent triumph increased their record of eight victories to nine, easily the most in the tournament’s history. Sri Lanka came in second with six titles.
In a nail-biting match in Dubai, India defeated bitter rivals Pakistan after pursuing a 147-run goal behind Tilak Varma’s undefeated 69. After India suffered a top-order destruction with Abhishek Sharma, the tournament’s top run scorer, falling cheaply alongside Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav, Varma was well-aided by Shivam Dube (33 off 22) and Sanju Samson (24 off 21).
But Tilak’s poise was evident as he helped India cross the finish line with two half-century partnerships with Samson and Dube. While Varma and Dube formed a momentum-shifting 40-ball 60-run partnership for the fifth wicket, Varma and Samson contributed 57 runs off 50 balls in a resolute fourth-wicket stand.
The announcement of the BCCI was made as the country celebrated. “Three blows,” the BCCI said following the triumph. There was no answer. Champions of the Asia Cup. The message was delivered.
