Ahead of the Champions Trophy, the BCCI has been drafting numerous regulations with the players and staff in mind. In numerous other cases, the top board has made sure that the players in the team are disciplined and united, aside from the directive to make sure that international cricket players prioritize domestic cricket.
According to one of the most current sources, because the tournament lasts less than a month, even the cricket players’ families may not be allowed to attend. However, other reports claim that in order to maintain this, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir’s personal assistant (PA) was discreetly instructed to stay in a different hotel than the team because of the rules governing personal staff accommodations.
“A member of the coaching staff’s personal secretary, who was frequently spotted at the team hotel, now stays at a different facility even though he has been seen at every venue during the England home series,” the Hindustan Times said.
A BCCI official also voiced his displeasure with the coach’s PA following the squad everywhere, including when they fly and sit in VIP areas during games with the team or selectors.
The official added that the presence of a third unidentified individual made it difficult for the selectors to discuss anything crucial.
Why was the vehicle designated for national selection the one in which his PA was sitting? They are not even allowed to speak privately with an unidentified third party in the vehicle. Why did he get a spot in the Adelaide hospitality box of the BCCI? How did he eat breakfast in the section of a five-star hotel that is strictly reserved for team members? The Hindustan Times quoted the BCCI source as saying.
Speaking about the Indian team, they have declared their final Champions Trophy lineup and have defeated England 3-0 in their home ODI series. At the conclusion of the three-match series, Shubman Gill, India’s young star batsman, was named the series’ MVP.
