The 15-year relationship between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and chief curator Gamini de Silva will come to an end in November.
Gamini has been the head curator of the BCB since 2010, and in July 2025, he was granted a one-year extension. Authorities did, however, affirm that the board will fire him following payment of the agreed-upon compensation.
“We must provide him two months’ salary if we decide not to keep him on board before the end of his term, under his (Gamini) agreement. We made the decision to pay him that sum in order to break up our contact with him,” a BCB official told Cricbuzz Thursday.
After managing the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium for the majority of his term, Gamini was recently transferred to Rajshahi. According to reports, his relationship with the board soured after Australian curator Tony Hemmings returned.
Gamini, who had been in charge of making decisions about pitch matters since his appointment, reportedly did not welcome Hemmings to the BCB, and he left.
In both domestic and international games, Gamini has also come under fire for the surfaces that are constantly low and slow. His record of serving a single location for an extended length of time has received criticism from the board, making him the only curator in BCB’s history to do so.
