The Three Lions have an impressive record of winning series since Stokes assumed captaincy, but the forthcoming five-match series against India will be very difficult because most of the cricket players are inexperienced in handling Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Sunil Gavaskar, a former cricket player for India, thinks that “Bazball” might succeed in India despite this.
He clarified that the boundaries are usually small these days and that England can score highly if they bat properly. In an effort to put pressure on the spinners, the 74-year-old said that the visitors will aim to target them.
“Yes, it can function in India. If you look at it, the limits have gotten thinner over the past few years. Even mishits are soaring over the boundary as the bats get better and better. The England hitters should aim to take the spinners out of the game, in my opinion. They’ll attempt to knock them into the bleachers. “You create a mentality, yes, they might get dismissed in the process,” Gavaskar said to Star Sports.
“Our spinners are active T20 cricket players as well. What kind of mindset do you have in Twenty20 cricket? There, it’s acceptable to go without wickets as long as you take care not to give away boundaries or sixes. You have a tendency to alter your flight and line,” he continued.
Monday is England’s arrival in India ahead of the Test series between the two countries.
Three days before the first Test in Hyderabad, on Monday, January 22, England is scheduled to arrive in India. The batsmen were pitted against spinners in a training camp they established in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Before the first Test on January 25, the Ben Stokes-led team is anticipated to have two practise sessions after arriving in India.
