Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubss Temba Bavuma, were on the crease as South Africa resumed play on Day 2 after falling down 45/1. After a while, both hitters were able to hold on and score 20 and 78 runs, respectively.
After a rain-shortened first day of play that allowed only 15 overs of play, the second day of the first Test between the West Indies and South Africa proceeded without incident. Jason Holder, an all-rounder from the West Indies, had dismissed Aiden Markram, the opener, after just nine runs in 34 deliveries.
With a resolute 86 off 182 and a brilliant 29 off 45 from David Bedingham, captain Temba Bavuma had an outstanding performance.
After Ryan Rickleton was removed for 19, South Africa’s middle order rallied behind 39 runs from 87 balls thanks to Kyle Verreynne. Wiaan Mulder and Kagiso Rabada returned undefeated at the conclusion of the day, scoring 37 and 12, respectively, helping the visitors total 344/8.
Regarding the West Indies, Jayden Seales and Kemar Roach have both taken two wickets, while Jomel Warrican has claimed the most with three.

South Africa will try to extend their lead as the third day draws near, with Mulder and Rabada predicted to add further runs to push their side over the 400-run threshold.
