'If you're calling him for Melbourne, then don't call him at all'- Basit Ali on Mohammed Shami's potential BGT participation

India lost to Australia by 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval, and with three games remaining, the series is tied at 1-1. The biggest blow to the game came when the Indian bowlers failed to finish Australia’s innings ahead of schedule after being all out for 180 runs. In light of growing calls for Mohammed Shami‘s induction, India will now travel to Brisbane for the third Test at the Gabba.

In the Ranji Trophy, Shami returned after recovering from an ankle injury, playing for Bengal. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he is presently playing for Bengal and has performed admirably in both red-ball and white-ball matches. According to rumours, the pacer will play against Australia in the fourth Test. Former cricketer Basit Ali of Pakistan is concerned about this possible late call-up.

“Shami will be attending, but he may play in the fourth Test, according to the news we are receiving. The use of Shami in the fourth Test by India will not be advantageous. Put him in the Brisbane Test right away. It is best not to call him at all if you are phoning him for Melbourne. Shami is now needed in India! Basit posted on his YouTube channel, “Shami is essential to your pace attack.”

Rohit Sharma on Mohammed Shami availability: “That door is very much open.”

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, was questioned about Shami’s possible return following the defeat in Adelaide. “The management is worried about not rushing him back into action, but the doors are open for his inclusion,” the India opener stated.

“No, no, absolutely not. There is no doubt that door is open. We’re just keeping an eye on him, though, because he had some knee swelling when playing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20, which clearly makes it harder for him to get ready for a Test match. “After the second Test, we want to be extremely cautious,” Rohit stated.
